8 Things to Include in Your Senior Pictures

Looking for ways to make your senior portraits in Rochester NY unique? Here’s some senior picture ideas made just for you by us: your very own local, Fairport Senior Portrait Photographers.

1) Show off Your Athletic Side in Senior Portraits

Are you a high school senior athlete? Bring your jersey, jacket or gear to show the world your athletic side. We can even hit the field, court or pool as one of your senior portrait locations.

2) Turn up the Music: Senior Pictures for Musicians

Do you play the sax or the guitar? Tuba? Accordion? Let’s hear that sweet, sweet sound, and capture your music in your senior pictures at the same time.

3) Show Some School Spirit: Wear your cap and gown in senior portraits

These are your senior graduation portraits - right?! Show us the ways you’re celebrating! Put on your cap and gown for a few of your portraits. Or show off your school spirit (high school or future college) with a school pennant or other fun prop!

4) Bring your Besties: Have a friend in your senior photos

We are ALL about adding a favorite person into your senior pictures. Who is that for you? Want to have your bestie since birth by your side? Your mom or dad? These relationships helped you become the amazing high school senior you are today.

5) Ride in Style: Show off your car in your high school senior pictures

You’re pretty proud of your car and want your senior pictures to reflect that. Whether you built it or bought it, they’re your senior pictures, and your ride is important to you.

6) All Dressed Up: Formal wear in senior pictures

Prom dress? Power suit? Yes. You spent forever picking out, why only wear it once? Bring your prom attire and let’s capture that glam in your senior pics.

7) Life’s a Stage / Or a Hobby: Share your hobbies in your senior portraits

Dancer or actor? Bring your ballet shoes and playbills to the stage. Love to read? Bring your favorite books. Build your own R/C vehicles? That counts. Planning a trip around the world? We can show that side of you too.

8) Four Legged Friends: Pets in senior pictures

Don’t forget Fido! Your lovable and loyal furry best friends are part of your world, and they should be part of your senior session too. Bring your pets to your senior pictures.

Family Pictures at Eastman Museum

The last time we photographed this whole family together, was at Gail and Greg's wedding. That was three years ago and before Chloe entered the picture and became part of our Portrait Membership Program. It was time for a full family picture update, and they wanted a fun experience together.

The beautiful springtime gardens of the Eastman Museum were just the perfect setting. Chloe enjoyed running between the flower beds, and all the adults were/are just enamored by her adorable ways.

Every chapter is different and beautiful, and we love being there while you live it. Until next time!

Holiday Family Portraits: George Eastman Museum

When I showed up to this session wearing a cream sweater, Seana joked that I could be a part of their family photo. It may have been in jest, but this crew certainly knows how to make you feel like part of the family.

The kids were probably all a foot shorter the first time we met, and I last saw Jack when he was a senior at McQuaid. Perhaps the best part of this session was catching up and seeing what everyone is up to these days.

Or perhaps it was encouraging the parents to sneak a kiss in the library while the kids looked on. (Seana was a librarian when she met Brett.)

Or perhaps it was the snowball fight in the gardens at the Eastman Museum.

Or perhaps it was grabbing a hot chocolate in the cafe after the session.

Oh well, I can't decide. But I do know that it is always a pleasure and honor to capture your family story! Thank you for being the amazing people you are.

Sincerely,
Lori

Fairport Swimming Senior Photos: Suhan

We met Suhan at the Northern Stone Design Center on Route 31, just as it started to sprinkle. She braved the weather with us, and it turned out to be a gorgeous evening! I loved adding the umbrella for a little twist, and she looked amazing in all of her outfits. Not only did she change her clothes, but she had new shoes and earrings to go with each outfit. I asked her to be my personal shopper... we'll see how that goes :) Suhan is also a captain for the Fairport swim team, so of course we had to get in the water! I loved working in her environment, and she even showed us her speed in the water! This was another great evening, thanks for working with us Suhan! Have a fantastic senior year!

6 months old: Rochester NY Family Portraits

I love family portraits and time at home!

This little man has his mom, dad, and dogs completely wrapped around his adorable little fingers. Theo is one of happiest babies I have ever met. He loves to smile and giggle, whether it's at mom or one of his two lovable pups. He also loves reading and showing off his sitting skills, as you'll see. He's already starting to move, so watch out world! Here comes Theo.

XOXO,
Lori

Halloween with the Colemans : Family Pictures

Are you ready for some insanely adorable? Well it's coming your way!

This fall, we made a special trip to Syracuse to capture these 4 kiddos and their families. We started at a cool park with lots of amazing colors. Flynn and Clara loved playing in the leaves and watching the squirrels run around like crazy.

After a quick lunch break, we drove over to the an apple farm to meet up with their cousins, Landon and Dempsey. The boys were super sweet, and enjoyed running up and down the rows, playing on the bridges and throwing rocks in the pond. Since it was Halloween, they popped into their costumes for a few quick shots before the quest for candy.

I'm so glad to have Captain America and Iron Man in my corner! Love you all,
-Aunt Lori

Lima Christian Senior Pictures, Cobbs Hill, Mendon Ponds

I knew there was something special about Lindsey. She just oozed a very welcoming personality. Her goal for the session? To make ME smile. Can you believe that? Well, she succeeded, because her gorgeous attitude was indeed infectious.

Lindsey is currently attending Lima Christian School, and plans to attend the Bible Institute next year before going to college. She brought her bible and some favorite books to her session before getting serious in her soccer jersey. And that dog? Do they get any cuter? We always love to include pets, and Jake was no exception.

Well, before I rattle on all day, check out a few of our favorites from Cobbs Hill Reservoir and Mendon Ponds Park.

Photographer Reboot : New Zealand!

blog_0392.jpg

From April through December, our lives as photographers can be chaotic… in a good way of course! But come January to March, things slow down around here, and hibernation sets in. This year, my husband and I escaped the epically cold month of February and chased down summer… on the other side of the planet!

NEW ZEALAND!! It’s my new happy place. Just thinking about it brings a smile to my face. It was an unbelievable dream come true. Breathtaking, fun, gorgeous, friendly, walkable, adventurous, relaxing, delicious, sunny… Anyone have plans to work on a teleporter? I’m willing to invest…

Here are a few things we did: boat rides, Hobbiton, ziplines, a hot air balloon ride, wine tasting, biking, hiking, walking, photographing, swimming, driving, busing, hitching, eating, meeting locals and other travelers, and just, you know, enjoying life.

Basically, what I’m trying to say is, if visiting New Zealand is not on your bucket list, it should be. And don’t think of it as just a 3 day add on from Australia. Heck no. We spent 16 days there, and I promise you it was not enough!

So I’m going to shut up now, and let the photos do the talking. Enjoy!

Creative Professional Head Shots: Rochester NY Photographers

blog_0377.jpg

Meet Paul: The Creative Person. He’s an app developer, podcaster, entrepreneur- extraordinaire! He’s also a coffee fanatic with a super adorable puppy. We met several years ago as students at RIT and had a blast reconnecting and creating these portraits for his growing business! When Paul approached me looking for “Fun, Happy Portrait Photos” I couldn’t resist. We don’t do lame, sad portraits here!

Paul has an office in Venture Creations at RIT. We started there to photograph him surrounded by his “tech”. The fancy microphone, Mac Pro with dual monitors & of course his iPhone, etc. I stood on a desk to create some fun angles for these environmental portraits. Then we went exploring and got creative in the lobby and outdoors as well. It was a fun afternoon!

The coolest part of it all though, is seeing it all in use! Check out Paul’s website here: http://paulsolt.com/

and The Creative Person Podcast http://creativepersonpodcast.com/

Keep it up Paul!

Rochester NY Family Photos: Ben, Tori and Family

I just love the energy that children have. Tori has grown so much since the last time I saw her. She is now running around, dancing, combing her hair, and basically ignoring her little brother. He didn't seem to mind though. He loved playing with his own toys, looking at himself in the mirror and snuggling with the fam. It's always such a pleasure to photograph these two cuties, and their parents, too! Here are a few of my favorites.-Lori

Rush Henrietta Senior Portraits: Rebecca

Rebecca is a cross-country runner. We met up for her portraits at Genesee Valley Park just a day or two before a big race there. It was a cool location as it is somewhere she frequents for competition, but there is also a wide variety of backdrops without having to go very far. We used a bridge, the Roundhouse Gazebo, a pavilion and just open space as well. Rebecca was a true star; look at that gorgeous long hair! Jealous! It was a pleasure photographing you Rebecca, enjoy the rest of your year!

Cobblestone Family Portraits | Victor NY

blog_03021.jpg

I met Susan and John a few months ago when I photographed them for their feature in Cobblestone Living magazine. I was so happy to return in December and get to meet all five of their kids while they were home for the holidays. This was a pretty quick session, as some had to leave for a long drive home right after, but we got some good images before they had to go. We also got to celebrate one son and his fiancé on their engagement!

And of course, what's a family session without the family pets! With us, it's pretty much mandatory to include your dogs if you have them.

Enjoy! Lori
